This issue only occurs when the function returns a "System.Data.DataSet".

Changing the return from dataset to object. And the Commenter works fine.

I no longer use VS 2005 and it was un-installed to make room for VS.Net 2008. So I can not fix this issue under 2005 and when I tried to reproduce this problem in VB.Net 2008 this sample function:

Private Function test(ByVal tested As String) As System.Data.DataSet
    Dim mytest As New System.Data.DataSet
    Return mytest
End Function
The commenter window did not even come up. So I will determine the cause in VB.Net 2008 and post the results. I maybe able to recompile the 2005 version on one of my co-workers machines if they still have VS.Net 2005.

I moved away from VS.Net 2005 becuase: Mainly it crashed alot even after the service pack, it was slow to load and would get in states that put the processor at 100%. I have not seen any of these problems so far with VS.Net 2008 and I can build to Dot Net 2.x, 3.x and 3.5.

Sorry for this issue, I will do my best to provide you with a 2005 version.

I tried a few return types under "System.Data.DataSet" in VB.Net 2008 and more then one did not load the commenter window. So I will have to determine which ones and why. I will be on vacation in Hawaii for two weeks starting on Monday Feb 11, 2008 so I will handle this when I return.
